| 2018-08-11 06:15:31 | What Kind of Erotic Writer are You? | Thanks for your excellent essay. I have only been on this website for about 9 months, but a lot of what you say rings true for me. To answer your question, I write because I am an introvert and I am able to express myself on the page much better than I can in conversation. I find writing therapeutic and writing about sex even more so. My stories are based on my own sexual experience. I don’t regard myself as an “erotic writer”. That carries connotations (for me) of romance and idealised sex. I prefer blunt realism. I am trying to find that sweet spot between saying what I want to say and telling people what they want to hear. I’m writing for the fun of immersing myself in the creative process and for the reward of feeling that the finished product is well written, as confirmed (or not) by the number of views and the ratings.
